FishHawk

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 4, 2026

FishHawk is operated by FishHawk App LLC (“FishHawk,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

This Privacy Policy explains how FishHawk collects, uses, discloses, and retains personal information when you use the FishHawk iOS application and related websites, APIs, and services that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”).

1. Information We Collect

  • Your profile photo, profile banner, biography, and other profile information
  • Your account settings and notification preferences
  • Authentication credentials and related sign-in, security, and session information
  • Your subscription or premium-access status

User-generated content and social activity

FishHawk allows users to create profiles, log catches, publish posts, and interact with other users. We collect and store information that you submit or generate through these features, including:

  • Catches, posts, captions, comments, and replies
  • Photos and videos
  • Species, weight, length, fishing method, water body, date, time, and other catch details
  • Weather information associated with a catch
  • Locations that you choose to associate with catches or posts
  • Likes, follows, mentions, hashtags, blocks, and reports
  • Information about your interactions with other users and content
  • Location-visibility and content-privacy selections

Information you publish may be visible to other FishHawk users or the public, depending on the applicable feature and the privacy options you select.

Location and map information

FishHawk processes different kinds of location information to provide maps, waypoints, routes, and marine forecasts. Location information may include:

  • Your device’s current location when you grant location permission
  • Coordinates for locations you select manually on a map
  • Saved waypoint coordinates and related waypoint information
  • Saved forecast locations
  • Locations you associate with catches or posts
  • Location updates generated while an active route is running

The way FishHawk uses each type of location information is explained in Section 2.

Subscription and purchase information

FishHawk purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store.

Apple may provide FishHawk with information needed to verify and manage your access, such as:

  • The product or subscription purchased
  • Transaction and purchase identifiers
  • Purchase, renewal, and expiration dates
  • Subscription status
  • Trial or introductory-offer status
  • Receipt or entitlement information

FishHawk does not receive or store your full payment-card number.

Push-notification information

When you enable push notifications, FishHawk and its notification providers may process:

  • Your device’s push-notification token
  • An internal FishHawk account or user identifier
  • Your notification preferences
  • Information about which notifications were sent, delivered, opened, or otherwise interacted with

You can disable push notifications or change FishHawk’s notification permissions through your device settings.

Communications, support, suggestions, and moderation

We collect information you provide when you:

  • Contact FishHawk support
  • Submit feedback or product suggestions
  • Suggest a species or water body
  • Report content or another user
  • Appeal or respond to a moderation decision
  • Communicate with us by email or through the app

This information may include your email address, account identifier, message contents, attachments, selected location information, and information about the relevant content or user.

Analytics and app-usage information

FishHawk uses Amplitude to understand how users interact with the app and to evaluate and improve FishHawk’s features.

Depending on FishHawk’s Amplitude configuration and the events generated by your use of the app, analytics information may include:

  • App launches and sessions
  • Screens or features used
  • Buttons, tabs, and other in-app actions
  • Session duration and general engagement information
  • App version and build number
  • Device model and operating-system version
  • Language, time zone, and general device settings
  • An internal FishHawk user identifier
  • A device, installation, or analytics identifier
  • IP address
  • Approximate city, region, or country inferred from an IP address

FishHawk uses Amplitude for its own product analytics and app improvement. We do not use Amplitude to serve third-party behavioral advertising or track you across unrelated companies’ apps or websites.

Crash and diagnostic information

FishHawk uses Sentry to identify, investigate, and resolve crashes, errors, app hangs, and other technical problems.

Depending on the type of failure and FishHawk’s Sentry configuration, diagnostic information may include:

  • Crash reports
  • Stack traces
  • Error messages
  • App-hang and termination information
  • App version and build number
  • Device model and operating-system version
  • The date and time of an error
  • Limited technical context about the app’s state before an error occurred
  • Diagnostic breadcrumbs describing actions or technical events leading up to a failure
  • An internal FishHawk user identifier, if associated with the diagnostic report

FishHawk uses Sentry for troubleshooting, reliability, security, and app functionality—not advertising.

Device, server, and security information

FishHawk and its service providers may automatically collect limited technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Services, such as:

  • IP address
  • Device type
  • Operating-system version
  • FishHawk app version
  • Language and time-zone settings
  • Network and server request information
  • Request dates and times
  • Authentication and security logs
  • Error and diagnostic records
  • Information used to detect abuse, fraud, or unauthorized access

2. How FishHawk Uses Location Information

Current device location and map positioning

With your permission, FishHawk may access your device’s current location to:

  • Display your current position on the map
  • Show your position relative to waypoints
  • Request a marine or weather forecast for your current location
  • Provide position and progress updates while an active route is running

FishHawk requests location permission through iOS. You can control location access and the iOS Precise Location setting through your device settings.

Current-location forecasts

You can request a marine or weather forecast using your device’s current location.

When you select this option, FishHawk uses your current coordinates to obtain forecast information from providers such as Apple WeatherKit and Stormglass.

FishHawk does not:

  • Retain the device location used for a one-time current-location forecast as part of your FishHawk account after the request is completed
  • Automatically add the location to your saved forecast locations

The coordinates required to provide the forecast are transmitted to the applicable forecast provider. Those providers may process request information under their respective terms and privacy practices.

Manually selected forecast locations

You can manually select a forecast location without using your device’s current location.

A manually selected forecast location represents a point you chose on the map or through a location-search feature. It does not necessarily represent your current physical location.

Saved forecast locations

You may intentionally save a selected forecast location for later use.

FishHawk retains saved forecast locations and their associated coordinates so they remain available through your account. They remain stored until you remove them, delete your account, or they are otherwise removed in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Using your current location for a one-time forecast does not automatically save that location.

Waypoints and selected map locations

You may create a waypoint by selecting a coordinate on the map, including by:

  • Long-pressing a location on the map
  • Using the Add Waypoint feature
  • Selecting or positioning a point through another waypoint tool

A waypoint may identify an exact map coordinate, but it does not necessarily represent your current physical location. For example, you may create a waypoint at a fishing location, marina, structure, hazard, destination, or other point located far from you.

FishHawk retains saved waypoint coordinates and related waypoint information so that your waypoints remain available to you. Saved waypoints remain stored until you delete them, delete your account, or they are otherwise removed in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Locations associated with catches and posts

You may choose to associate a location, map coordinate, water body, or other location information with a catch or post.

A location selected for content does not necessarily represent your current device location.

FishHawk may provide location-privacy options that allow you to control whether a location is:

  • Displayed exactly
  • Generalized or blurred
  • Identified only by a broader place or water body
  • Kept private

The information displayed to other users depends on the privacy selection you make and the functionality of the applicable feature.

You should review your location-privacy selection before publishing a catch or post.

Active routes and background location

When you start an active route, FishHawk may continue receiving your device’s location while the app is in the background.

Background location allows FishHawk to continue updating your:

  • Current position
  • Position relative to the route
  • Route progress
  • Navigation-related information

This may occur while another app is displayed or while your device is locked.

FishHawk uses background location only while a user-initiated active route is running. FishHawk does not intentionally access your location in the background at other times.

Background location use ends when the active route is stopped, completed, or otherwise no longer running.

Location controls

You can change FishHawk’s location permission, including access to precise location, through the iOS Settings app.

Disabling location access may prevent or limit:

  • Current-position display
  • Current-location forecasts
  • Position updates during active routes
  • Other features that require your device’s current position

You may still be able to manually select waypoints, forecast locations, and content locations without granting access to your current device location.

FishHawk does not use precise device location for third-party behavioral advertising.

Disabling location access does not necessarily prevent you from manually selecting a location or waypoint on the map.

Content location privacy

Where FishHawk provides location-privacy options, you can choose how the location associated with your catch or post is displayed.

You should review this selection before publishing location-related content.

Background location

FishHawk uses background location only while an active route is running. You can end background location use by stopping the route or disabling FishHawk’s location access through your device settings.
